dusting off the saddle
In the recent spirited clean up at the DOORYARD, I have left myself very little time to focus on my studio and my work. About a week and a half ago, unfinished projects were starting to wrap up and the common areas were looking loved, so I allowed myself to take back some time for me.
So last night, I spent the evening cleaning out my studio and I wanted to share!
These shots are fairly misleading; my space is rarely this clean. I usually only get around to a nice, deep clean about once every three or four months. So come on in and enjoy the sparkle while it lasts!*
turn left at the piano to enter!
* Let it be known that my studio will most likely revert to its natural state of precarious disaster.
And I will leave you with one more photo:
Daisies from my lover! What a delight!
Soon I’ll be bringing you some photos of the pieces that I’ve been working on recently, maybe some photos of the update at the DOORYARD, and who knows what else!

multiples
Something about multiples and excessive repetition of objects&images just plain delights me.
The kind folks at the United States Postal Office offer free flat rate boxes, shipped to you free in increments of twenty five. Presumably, this service is for small businesses who have to ship lots of small items.
Getting two hundred and fifty shipped to your house to play with in the spare room is a lot more fun.

your friends can help you build them

you can swim in them

they come marching down the hall

you can play big jenga

they can keep you from being found

workin’
A little peek into what I’m currently drawing and spending much of my time on:

up close

Being surrounded by so many other artists lately has made me realize I’m really not confident talking about or even thinking about the reasons for my image-making. It takes up a substantial amount of my time and it would follow that I should have a substantial amount of things to say about it.
So I’ve been trying to practice at least some kind of casual note taking about my thoughts and habits, and my inspirations and motivations. And maybe eventually I’ll have enough little pieces to stitch into some larger thought.
Some things I have been thinking about a lot:
- birds
- nests
- homes
- the importance of building a home and creating comfort
- nostalgia/ephemera
